- Story Text: Hundreds of Syrians demonstrated on Thursday (February 20) in Qudsaya, a Damascus suburb, to show support for President Bashar al-Assad and the Syrian people.
Supporters, holding Syrian flags and pictures of Assad, cheered for the Syrian army and for the unity of Syrian people.
"We came here to ensure that we back the leader Doctor Bashar al-Assad. We came to say 'no' for disturbance. Syria people are unified people," said Mohamad al-Ghazali, a demonstrator, "We hope we will return to our sanity and go back to the old times. We are one body and one soul", said Razan Ammar, another demonstrator.
"The world must stop backing terrorism in our country and stop armament so we can live peacefully, because we love to live peacefully," added Arij Saleh.
A second round of talks in Geneva broke up on Saturday (February 15) with chief mediator Lakhdar Brahimi lamenting a failure to advance much beyond agreement on an agenda for a third round later. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
