- Story Text: South Korean protesters rallied against Pyongyang on Tuesday (April 15), as North Koreans commemorated the 102nd birth anniversary of their founder.
About 150 conservative civic group members gathered in central Seoul and burned a North Korean flag and portraits of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, late leader Kim Jong Il and the North's founder Kim Il Sung.
Protesters denounced the North's dictatorship which they say is holding fast to their nuclear ambitions.
"North Korea has fired missiles into the East Sea and it is reportedly preparing a fourth nuclear test now. Our South Korean people strongly condemn the North's dictatorship on the birthday of Kim Il Sung, 'the Day of Sun'", said South Korean protest leader Park Chan-sung.
In late March, North Korea threatened to conduct what it called "a new form of nuclear test", raising the level of rhetoric after members of the United Nations Security Council condemned the North's recent ballistic missile launch.
United Sates and Chinese representatives met at the U.S. mission to the United Nations on Monday (April 14) to discuss the North Korean nuclear issue.
The two countries were expected to talk about a unified response to Pyongyang's threatened nuclear tests. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
