- Story Text: About 15,000 Jordanians from across the Kingdom took part in a rally in Amman on Friday (August 8) to express solidarity with Gaza.
Demonstrators responded to calls from the Muslim Brotherhood, who announced the event a week earlier by distributing posters to motorists and posting events on social networks.
During the rally, members of the Muslim Brotherhood addressed participants, calling for the Israeli embassy in Amman to be closed down and expressing their support for Gazans and the resistance force.
Demonstrators waved Muslim Brotherhood, Jordanian and Palestinian flags and held banners with pro-Gazan messages.
Young participants wearing black jerseys performed a military show in support for resistance force.
"Our message to everyone is that you have to understand the upcoming stage in which all negotiations and settlements failed and the only thing remaining is the flag of the resistance, which wrote the victory in Gaza," deputy overall leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Zaki Bani Rsheid, said.
Israel launched air strikes across the Gaza Strip on Friday in response to Palestinian rockets fired after Egyptian-mediated talks failed to extend a 72-hour truce in the month-long war.
In the first casualties since hostilities resumed on Friday, Palestinian medical officials said a 10-year-old boy was killed in an Israeli strike near a mosque in Gaza City. In Israel, police said two people were injured by mortar fire from Gaza. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
