    Chad's President Goukouni Oueddei has affirmed his country's determination to resolve its own future. He said on his return from Nairobi that he was angry at attempts by the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) to force him into peace negotiations with rebel guerrillas. The OAU meeting had called for a ceasefire between forces loyal to the provisional government and rebels led by ousted Defence Minister, Hissene Habre. President Goukouni has totally rejected any ideas of negotiation with Habre. He told a rally in N'Djamena on Sunday (14 February) that Chad wanted to resolve its own problems, only with the assistance of states which were friendly and sympathetic. On Saturday (13 February) the militant wing of Frolinat (Front du Liberation Nationale de Tchad) staged a march and rally in support of President Goukouni and his provisional government.
