  • Story Text: Paris competitors pulled into Chaumont, end of the first section, Monte Carlo Rally, in Haute-Marne Department, Eastern France, Jan 22. Two of the 16 Paris starters had withdrawn.

    At the control point came the checks on engines and tyres, and then with petrol tanks refilled and tyres changed to tackle snowy roads, the teams set off along the second section to Belfort, near the Swiss frontier.
