SYNOPSIS: Monte Carlo - and on Saturday the presentation of trophies to successful drivers in the 1972 Monte Carlo Rally. Prince Rainier and Princess Grace were guests of honour at the ceremony, and presented the trophies.
Car Number Fourteen is the Lancia which was the overall winner of the rally. The drivers were the Italian combination of Sandro Munari and Mario Manucci. It was the first time an Italian entry had won the rally - recognised world wide as one of the toughest endurance tests for motor vehicles.
Munari's comment on his win: "I knew all I had to do was wait".
The Women's Prize was won by the English pair - Mrs. Pat Moss-Carlsson and Miss Crellin. They were driving an Alpine Renault, one of the few to finish the course in the final drive through deep snow near Monte Carlo.
It was Mrs. Pat Moss-Carlsson's eight women's cup. Her only problem is this rally she said was a broken fan belt. Altogether 41 driving teams received prizes for their performance in the rally.
