- Story Text: Albania's opposition frontrunner, Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha, presided over a rally of young voters in Tirana on Wednesday (March 18), four days before the March 22 elections that could carry him to power.
Berisha told 3,000 supporters gathered at the Palace of Congress they had been "the polar star of our party".
Later, in the city of Elbasan, Berisha told a crowd of 30,000 people they were powerful and together they would destroy dictatorship and build democracy. The crowd chanted anti-socialist slogans including "Down with Alia", a reference to President Ramiz Alia.
