- Story Text: INTRO: More than 10,000 militant students marched through Seoul demanding that Korean President Kim Young-sam apologise for the death of one of their colleagues during a clash with riot police last week.
----------------------------------------------------------------- Thousands of angry South Korean students held an anti-government rally on Thursday (April 4) around the coffin of 20-year-old law student Roh Soo-sok from Yonsei University.
The students abandoned plans to carry the coffin of Roh, and instead poured through the campus gates, leaving Roh's body behind.
They said the funeral would be postponed until an apology was made.
Roh collapsed and died on Friday (March 29) during clashes between students and riot police.
Though his body was bruised, an autopsy concluded he died from a heart attack. Students dismissed the findings as a whitewash and say Roh died as a result of police brutality.
Roh is the first student to die in violent circumstances since President Kim took office in February 1993.
On Wednesday (April 3), thousands of students demanding Kim's resignation after Roh's death clashed with riot police.
Riot police sprayed tear gas at some 5,000 students who occupied Seoul's central business district beating gongs and drums as they mourned Roh.
Students demanded that Kim apologise and punish police officers they hold responsible for the death of Roh.
