- Story Text: More than 25,000 people, many of them supporters of the radical Islamic group Hamas, staged a rally in Gaza on Friday (December 16), police sources and march organisers said.
The protest, organised on the seventh anniversary of the founding of Hamas, took place in Gaza city.
Palestinian police stayed away from the rally which was held at Yarmouch stadium in Gaza city. Protestors called for the release of jailed Hamas leader Ahmed Yassin.
