- Story Text: French driver Jean-Luc Therier, driving an Alpine Renault, won on Saturday (26 May) the 21st Acropolis Rally.
The rally, which covered 1,740 miles (2,800 kms) ranks as the toughest road race in Europe.
82 cars started from Athens, Greece on Wednesday (23 May), but only 13 cars managed to finish the rally.
Finishing behind Therier in Car No. 1, was Rauno Aaltonen of Finland, driving a Fiat 124 Abarth. J.P. Nicolas of France, also driving an Alpine Renault, finished third.
