- Story Text: An aluminium factory collapsed into a pile of rubble in Zouk Mikael, an industrial area of Beirut on Thursday (June 24).
Lebanon's state-news agency said the three were one Lebanese and two Indian workers in the factory in the Zouk Mikael industrial area.
One witness said he saw the building collapse early in the morning with dust coating the whole area.
''I was sleeping when, at 6 o'clock, I heard a thud. My parents said they had been hearing that for two hours. We went outside to the balcony and I told my sister to get the camera but we didn't make it. The building started collapsing and there was dust everywhere," said Michael, who lives nearby.
Onlookers watched rescue workers as they sifted through the rubble to search for the missing employees.
Security sources said the most probable cause for the collapse was weak foundations. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
