- Story Text: Two people are trapped and 20 hurt when an apparent gas explosion brings down an apartment building in Liege.
An apartment block in the Belgian city of Liege collapsed on Wednesday (January 27), trapping two people under the rubble, emergency services said.
An explosion occurred at around 2 a.m. (0100 GMT), damaging a number of buildings in a street in the centre of the eastern Belgian city.
At around 7 a.m. the five-story apartment block collapsed.
A fire brigade official said two people were trapped under the rubble, with around 20 people injured. He did not specify how many were seriously injured.
Belgian media said the explosion appeared to have been caused by a gas leak. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
