- Story Text: At least three people were killed and several more injured when a four-storey shopping centre under construction collapsed in the Nigerian capital Abuja, police said on Wednesday (July 30).
Using heavy diggers, emergency personnel were trying to rescue dozens of people still buried under the rubble. Police said between 40-50 construction workers were believed to be working in the building when it collapsed.
"We have so far recovered 3 corpses, before we arrived there had been bystanders who have done a lot of rescue and one of those who was rescued came at about 08:30 a.m. to show himself. So that is so far. As of now we are trying to remove debris to get to the bottom floors to ensure that we don't have any other bodies left in the site at when we finish the exercise,"
