- Story Text: A residential building collapsed in Beirut on Sunday (January 15, 2012), killing at least two people and wounding ten others.
Lebanese Red Cross and Civil Defence forces rushed to the scene trying to evacuate the residents still believed trapped under the rubble.
At least 40 people are still believed to be trapped underneath the building.
Local woman Nada lives near the collapsed building and witnessed what happened.
"We suddenly heard the noise of shaking and then screams of women and children, then we felt strong shaking, we didn't know if it was an earthquake or what. Then we saw a lot of dust, I felt that it was the scene of the World Trade Center."
The five-story building in the Achrafieh district of Beirut was erected in the 1960s. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
