  • Story Text: At least two children were killed when a bridge collapsed over a river in Indonesia on Tuesday (January 21). Several people remained missing.
    The National Disaster Management Agency said dozens of people were on the bridge when it collapsed, plunging them into the stream of the Cibanten River in Serang, Banten province.
    The people were reportedly standing on the bridge to watch a rafting exercise below. It's believed the bridge collapsed due to the weight of the people.
    Police as well as local residents helped the rescue efforts to save those that had fallen in to the fast moving stream.
    The National Disaster Management Agency said that around 40 people had fallen into the river, with two children confirmed dead and several people missing.
