- Story Text: Around 100 workers are feared to be trapped after a cement factory collapsed in Mongla, Bangladesh on Thursday (March 12).
Four people were confirmed dead and rescuers pulled around 40 survivors from the debris.
The factory is in the port town of Mongla, 335 km (210 miles) south-west of the capital Dhaka. It is run by a subsidiary of the Bangladesh army.
Police said there are believed to have been 150 people inside the factory building when it collapsed.
Soldiers and sailors were helping firefighters search for more survivors, an official said.
Bangladesh has a poor record for building safety.
A complex of shops and small factories collapsed in 2013, killing more than 1,130 people, most of them garment workers.
The collapse of Rana Plaza, built on swampy ground outside the capital, ranked among the world's industrial accidents and sparked a global outcry for improved safety in the world's second-largest exporter of ready-made garments. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
