- Story Text: The stage for a musical performance by a member of Japanese band Kinki Kids collapsed on Thursday (March 19) injuring six people.
The "Endless Shock" musical featured Kinki Kids member Koichi Domoto as one of the lead roles at the Imperial Theatre in downtown Tokyo.
Five performers and one staff member were injured when a set of moving LED light panels fell onto the middle of the stage.
The event organizers said however that they would restart the performance again on Friday (March 20) as Domoto himself wasn't injured.
"I'm glad it didn't turn into a large accident and so for that I'm happy. But with all the large devices that are on the stage, I'm sure it's necessary to stay safe," 49-year-old Hideo Yokohama said as he walked near the theatre.
"I was just very surprised. I heard that it happened at the Imperial Theatre and so turned on the news immediately," added 67-year-old Masako Saito.
While the show will go on organizers said that they no longer plan on using moving LED lights like the ones that fell. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
