- Story Text: Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan says Saturday's
attacks in Istanbul are an international issue.
After returning from a visit to Cyprus, Turkish
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a news conference
at Istanbul airport on Saturday (November 15).
Erdogan told journalists that Turkey is always against
terror.
"Terror does not have a race, a nation or a religion,"
he said.
Like the Turkish Interior minister before him, Erdogan
said the attacks had international significance.
"These attacks go far beyond a domestic issue, I think
this is a very international issue, and I think our
security departments will find the source of the attacks
soon," he said.
After the news conference, Erdogan went to Istanbul's
Taksim hospital to visit victims injured in the attacks.
Erdogan is expected to visit the bomb sites and other
hospitals together with the Turkish and Israeli foreign
ministers on Sunday (November 16).
A search and rescue crew from Israel came to Istanbul
to help collect body parts.
"We are here to collect the body parts in a honourful
way, also according to the religious requirements, but also
according to the professional requirements," a member of
the group explained.
