- Story Text: Jodie Foster teams up with chid star Abigail Breslin for a adventure story that showcased a funnier side to the actress rarely seen on film. Foster, who co-stars with Gerard Butler, talks about taking a break from dark roles at the "Nim's Island" premiere in Los Angeles, California.
The next female action hero is about to make the scene and she could be Abagail Breslin or Jodie Foster who costar with Gerard Butler in "Nim's Island" which premiered in Los Angeles, California.
Former child-star Foster, who snagged her first Oscar nomination at the age of 14 for "Taxi Driver" and has become famous for such Oscar winning dramatic roles as "The Silence of the Lambs" and "The Accused" was happy to finally do a comedy.
"First of all, I just wanted to lighter side of myself. I had done a lot of dark films back to back and I was just psyched about being able to be challenged by something different. I am a pretty light person. I am not a heavy person, really I am not. To be able to have the kids to be able to see it and to have this first movie of mine that will ever see projected. First time they have ever been to one of my premieres. In 'Braveheart" they couldn't even see the trailer so they have no idea what I do for a living."
Foster played an adventure writer while 12-year-old Breslin plays the spunky and self-reliant daughter of a marine biologist played by Gerard Butler. Breslin talked about her previous days work, presenting at the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards.
"I did I had a lot of fun. I got a little nervous when I went up.
Because they said to us 'well there is still a little bit of slime' so you might trip a bit' so I am like 'be careful Abby, be careful Abby."
Butler, known for his role in "300" had his fare share of fun while shooting, on Australia's Gold Coast and in Hinchinbrook Island's tropical rainforest, with the youngster at Breslin's expense.
"I play a lot of jokes and I kind of forget but apparently I did something with a frog. I have a terrible memory but I seem to remember them screaming and me going 'ok maybe that was too much' I might of flashed them.
I don't know I know something funny happened might have been a tree frog. But I am scared to say that on camera cause people will go 'he threw a tree frog?'"
