- Story Text: Sacha Baron Cohen, alias Brüno, who plays the role of a gay fashion reporter in his new movie, was in Paris to present his film on Monday (June 15).
Baron Cohen plays a gay Austrian fashionista called Bruno in his new movie, which opens in the United States on July 10.
In his uber camp introduction at the premiere, Brüno made jokes about President Sarkozy's height and his wife Carla Bruni-Sarkozy: "Tonight you are all in great company. I have invited a lot of celebrities, Mick Jagger, Donald Trump, Eric Clapton, and many many more of Carla Bruni's ex boyfriends. I was hoping that Sarkozy would have turned up himself here tonight and join me on this platform, and I even have a box ready for him to stand on and I have put a high chair in the cinema," said Sacha Baron Cohen.
"She is too tall for him, they need to switch shoes. He needs to be wearing the high heels and she needs to be wearing the flats. He should me more like the Italian Prime Minister Berlusconi and date school girls," he added.
Baron Cohen is known for his character Borat, a homophobic Kazack reporter.
Since then with his new character Brüno, Baron Cohen has waxed legs and a clean shaven face.
This is the actor's big-screen follow-up to "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan His film takes him on a journey through the United States, meeting heterosexual males.
His humour is based on provocation.
At the premiere, he even joked about Arnold Schwarzenegger, the governor of the State of California:
"Well you know, basically America is turning gay, the whole of America is turning gay, they are loving it. Every where I go men are undressing me with their eyes you know, Arnold Schwarzenegger is the biggest Gay Austrian there at the moment" he said jokingly.
He then, as he often seems to do, tried to seduce one of the male journalists there:
"Great, hey! You look great! What's your name? You are so cute! Hey listen try and stare in my eyes not in my crotch, let's try and be professional" said Baron Cohen.
