- Story Text: The star-studded cast of Mamma Mia took to the red carpet in London on Monday (June 30) for the film's world premiere.
Joining big names such as Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth were two of Abba's former members, Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus. They, along with Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson, are producing the film.
Other stars in attendance were Stellan Skarsgard, Julie Walters, Christine Baranski, Dominic Cooper and Amanda Seyfried.
The film follows the story of young girl named Sophie (played by Seyfried) who's about to get married to her fiancee Sky (Cooper) on a Greek island. Unfortunately, she doesn't know who her father is.
She then takes it upon herself to invite her mother's (Meryl Streep) former lovers played by Brosnan, Firth and Skarsgard. All three men accept the invitation and make their way to the island.
The film was shot at studios in London and on location in Greece. For the night, London's Leicester Square was turned into a grove to resemble the film's location.
