- Story Text: Swing Vote, a political-themed comedy that touches broad political issues such as voting, health care and immigration celebrates its world premiere with actor Kevin Costner leading actors from the film and other celebrities into the red carpet.
Swing Vote deals with the story of a presidential election and begins when an apathetic, beer-slinging, lovable looser father finds himself in the national spotlight when his precocious 12 year old daughter sets off a chain of events which culminates in the election coming down to one vote, her dad's.
Although the film highlights the fact that every voter has the power to change the world just months away from the real presidential elections, and touches broad topics such as health care and immigration, actor Kevin Costner said, "It was just a coincidence because the movie has to work regardless if this is an election year. It's not a documentary; it's a piece of entertainment a really wonderful comedy."
"I taught that it dealt evenly handedly with both political parties and that to me was a bonus and I also taught that it was heart warming and a nice character study on Bud on Kevin Costner's part and Madeline, his daughter. I love that relationship in it and I had a scene with an elephant, but it didn't make it into the film and that was actually the reason why I took the movie", said actor Kelsey Grammer, who played the Republican incumbent President Andrew Boone in the film.
