- Story Text: After taking time off to raise her new-born twins, Jennifer Lopez made her return trip to the 'pink' carpet in London on Wednesday (April 28) for the European premiere of the romantic comedy, "The Back-up Plan." The 40-year-old star, who put her career on hold for the past two years to care for her two-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with husband-singer Marc Anthony, said she enjoyed her return from maternity leave:
"Yes it's been really nice, one of my favourite days of my life was going back to the set working and having my twins with me. It was like the first time in my life that I was like, oh I'm complete, my life is whole , it's perfect right now so it's been a really great time."
"The Back-up Plan" is a comedy that explores dating, love, marriage and family "in reverse." In the film, Lopez plays the character of Zoe, who after years of dating, has decided waiting for the right one is taking too long. Determined to become a mother, she commits to a plan, makes a doctor's appointment and decides to go it alone. That same day, Zoe meets Stan, the man of her dreams, played by actor Alex O'Loughlin.
Asked whether she had a backup plan as well before she met husband Marc Anthony and had her twins, Lopez laughed:
"No I didn't have any plans you know I'm one of those people who just go with the flow and I honestly thought in my mind, I didn't even know if I was gonna have children so it was just a pleasant surprise for me."
Alex O'Laughlin's character Stan sticks with Zoe and decides to raise her babies as his own - a big decision. O'Laughlin said he hopes he would be able to do the same, for the right woman:
"I've got to meet the right woman you know. I'm sure when you meet the right woman that's what happens. The thing that Stan's faced with is raising children that are biologically not his , that's a huge question you know and would I do that, I wish I could say yes but I don't know it's a big question."
In real life, Lopez feels at this point that she's achieved a perfect balance between her career and family. Raising kids however is a totally different challenge to her working life:
"It's so much more fulfilling. You know I love what I do and I'm always gonna love doing it but the kids is a whole different thing , it's just a different side of you. Your heart opens up in a way that it never has before. Actually it's very good for your work as well because you really feel things in a different way and as an actress that's really useful and helpful."
"The Back-up Plan" will be in cinemas across the UK from May 7. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
