I would be this grounded, sort of confident individual. But everybody's so vulnerable and vicious in high school. And, he's sees beyond it. JENNA ELFMAN DAN BYRD EMMA STONE TALKING TO A REPORTER (SOUNDBITE) (English) PENN BADGLEY ON WHY HE THINKS AUDIENCES WILL RELATE TO THE THEMES OF THIS FILM, SAYING: "Well, I think it's one of the more honest, real, timely, yet timeless--I mean hopefully it's timeless, that's setting the bar pretty high--of teen films that we've seen in awhile. You know, I think for once--pop culture has become increasingly more plastic and disposable. And this is a heark back to the eighties teen films that John Hughes and Cameron Crowe were tapping into. And, hopefully people will find the same kind of honesty in them, you know." TAYLOR SWIFT WALKING INTO THEATRE MAHALEY HESSAM

- Story Text: On Monday (September 13, 2010) Emma Stone walked the red carpet ahead of the Hollywood premiere of her new film, "Easy A."
Stone leads the cast of the comedy about a high school senior whose life takes a dramatic turn when rumours spread like wildfire about her alleged promiscuity after she tells a white lie in hopes of increasing her popularity. The film takes themes raised in the classic novel "The Scarlet Letter" and places them in a modern context.
The 21-year-old actress shared why she was interested in the role.
"I thought it was so clever and so original, and it's just--it's unbelievable that I'm even here right now, and that I even got to be a part of it. It's just really exciting, yeah."
Stone also talked about how much of herself she sees in her on-screen character, Olive.
"Yeah, we're relatively similar. We're pretty similar. She's got diarrhea of the mouth a lot. And I do too! I can relate to that. Definitely," said Stone. "I understood her outlook and she's got a really great family and they're really open, and communicative. And my family's like that as well. So it was kind of easy to see that."
Penn Badgley, 23, also stars in the film. He plays Stone's love interest in the story.
He noted that returning to high school with the wisdom of an adult mind would make teenage problems easier to handle.
"If I were to go to high school now, with the perspective that a 23-year-old has, at least the perspective that I have. I would be this grounded, sort of confident individual. But everybody's so vulnerable and vicious in high school. And, he's sees beyond it. And, he's an important kind of pillar for Olive because she's thrust into the rumour mill and is so overwhelmed by it. He's like her male counterpart."
In real life, Badgley is dating actress Blake Lively.
Aly Michalka portrays Stone's best friend in the movie. She talked about why she wanted to be a part of "Easy A," and what she liked about her character.
"I was just so drawn by the quirkiness of this movie," explained the 21-year-old. "And how funny it is and naturally hilarious all of the characters are. I really loved the role of Rhiannon, just because she's so loud and so out there and has her boobs in your face and is just like ridiculous. And, something that I would not normally, I think, be pictured as, as a character. So, I just love that."
Other stars of the film to attend the premiere included Patricia Clarkson, Dan Byrd and Mahaley Hessam.
"Easy A" actors Stanley Tucci, Lisa Kudrow and Thomas Haden Church did not make an appearance.
But the celebrity guest who got the most attention was pop country singer Taylor Swift, who came to support her friend Emma Stone. Swift posed for photos, but did not talk to any reporters.
Also spotted on the red carpet before the screening was actress Jenna Elfman.
