- Story Text: German Fans geared up for the third part of the Spider-Man movie series in Berlin on Wednesday (April 25).
Toby Maguire who plays the comicbook hero in all three parts willingly signed autographs and said he enjoyed playing a hero who had a darker side to him this time.
"It was fun, it was fun just to have all that much more stuff to work with and to dig into and also to find Peter Parker is a dark, cool swagger," Maguire said.
Co-star Thomas Haden Church said he liked Spider-Man because "He is like a real guy. He is like a normal kid, you know, there's absurd levels at times to these comicbook heroes. But I think Peter Parker, he manages the responsibility of his heroic powers really well, I think he tries to be very responsible."
The stars, short of Kirsten Dunst who attended the Spider-Man 3 premiere in Madrid, gave no clues whether Sony's money-spinning superhero would return to the screen in a fourth adventure.
The latest sequel's production cost of more than 250 million U.S. dollar (USD) makes it a big financial gamble for Sony Corp.'s Columbia Pictures. Launching the film in Japan on Tuesday (April 17), home to a huge community of superhero comic fans, rather than the United States was seen as a clever push into the faster-growing international market that could help boost box-office revenues.
For German fans, Spider-Man 3 will open on May 1st. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
