And I was like 'Great. I'm in.' And most of my scenes are with Liam, who's someone that I've just admired for a long, long, long time. So, that was a pretty easy sell to me. - Story Text: Actors Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Sharlto Copley and the rest of "The A-Team" cast arrived in style to the Los Angeles premiere of the film on Thursday (June 3) night.
The infamous A-Team van ferried Neeson down Hollywood Boulevard as hundreds of fans lined-up on both sides of the street cheered loudly.
The glossy black vehicle sporting a red stripe was closely followed by a camouflage military tank carrying Cooper and Copley.
A matching A-Team helicopter also hovered above the festivities outside of the Grauman's Chinese Theatre for a few minutes.
"The A-Team" is a new action-comedy based on an American television series of the same name that ran for five seasons starting in 1983.
Like the original show, the movie follows the adventures of four former U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers who must go to extraordinary lengths to prove their innocence for a crime they did not commit.
Neeson, 57, talked about why he enjoyed making the fast-paced film.
"I think the action of it," said the Irish actor. "It's sometimes nice in these movies to be really physical. Not over-intellectualize stuff. Just be physical, and fight and run, and say a couple of lines. Chomp on cigars. It was cool just to do that stuff, you know."
Cooper described the physically demanding role.
"It was the hardest thing I've ever done, just physically and being able to have a level of comfort around a gun. That was, which I'd never had before. Yeah, there were a lot of-- the curriculum for this guy was pretty intense."
The 35-year-old actor also admitted what he liked most about playing a soldier of fortune.
"The guns. I probably shouldn't say that. But I really kind of feel in love with that M4 machine gun."
Cooper is getting plenty of attention for transforming his body into a muscular sculpture for the part.
Actress Jessica Biel talked about playing a strong female lead.
"And to have a strong, empowered woman in a role in this movie is just important for women," explained the 28-year-old. "I mean we deserve to have these kind of role models around. And, hopefully we created something that people can relate to, and that women can, I don't know, be proud of I think."
Biel is currently dating singer-actor Justin Timberlake Actor Patrick Wilson, who plays a CIA agent in "The A-Team," credits the creativity of director Joe Carnahan for drawing him into the project. That and the opportunity to work with one of his favorite thespians.
"And once I talked with Joe, and five minutes of talking with Joe. And he had all these ideas of how much fun we wanted to have with the character and not take himself too seriously, you know, and really just go as far as we could and have a great time by the end of the film. And I was like 'Great. I'm in.' And most of my scenes are with Liam, who's someone that I've just admired for a long, long, long time. So, that was a pretty easy sell to me. To have a fun, different type of character for me, and working opposite Mr. Neeson was pretty awesome."
Wilson, 36, is married to Polish-American actress Dagmara Dominczyk.
In addition to Neeson and Cooper, South African actor Sharlto Copley and martial arts fighter Quinton Jackson comprise the four members of the A-Team on the big screen.
Copley, 36, is best-known for his part in the Oscar-nominated film "District 9" (2009).
This the biggest role to date for 31-year-old Jackson.
Popular American television star Jon Hamm plays a small part in the film, but seems to have been positioned to reprise his role and play a larger part in a sequel.
Hamm squired his his longtime girlfriend, Jennifer Westfeldt, down the red carpet at the event.
Actress Minnie Driver also posed for photos and attended the film screening.
