- Story Text: Stars tread the red carpet at the premiere of Guy Ritchie's latest cockney gangster outing, 'RocknRolla'.
Madonna tried not to steal the show at the London premiere of husband Guy Ritchie's latest gangster flick, 'RocknRolla' on Monday (September 1). The pop diva - taking a brief break from her world music tour - waited until the stars of the movie had tread the red carpet, appearing minutes before the movie started to pose for photographers with her husband.
The two have denied recent media speculation of a split in the marriage.
Gerard Butler, Thandie Newton and Academy Award nominee Tom Wilkinson were among the stars from Ritchie's customary big ensemble cast at premiere.
Fans and critics are watching the new crime caper closely, as it's perceived Ritchie needs to pull off a hit after a series of flops following his wildly popular first two films 'Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' and 'Snatch'.
Ritchie has high hopes for the film, already having written a sequel if 'RocknRolla' proves itself a success.
In the meantime, he's not worried about the almost backhanded praise for 'RocknRolla' as being a "return to form".
"Frankly I don't care. I'll take compliments where I can get them," he told Reuters.
RocknRolla opens in cinemas across the UK on September 5. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
