president-elect Barack Obama at the London premiere of his American political thriller 'Body of Lies'.
The world welcomes Obama with open arms, said Leonardo DiCaprio referring to U.S. president-elect Barack Obama. The actor was at the premiere of his political thriller 'Body of Lies' in London on Thursday (November 6).
Director Ridley Scott and co-star Mark Strong also attended the premiere.
DiCaprio said he stayed up all night on Tuesday (November 4) election day in his hotel in Rome, doing the promotional rounds for the film.
"I have to say the response worldwide to Obama and Obama's appeal even before he got elected was tremendous. I think not only was the country calling for new leadership but the entire world was as well because obviously the United States' policies affects so many things around the world and I think the world has welcomed him with open arms as I have and it's going to create some real dramatic change in our world," DiCaprio told Reuters Television.
The actor is a staunch supporter of environmental causes and directed the documentary 'The 11th Hour' urging people to go green.
"The environmental policy of the last administration you couldn't give it a lower grade. What he (George Bush) didn't do for the environment was so incredibly profound. The fact is the Democrats traditionally had a better environmental policy for many many years and Obama's plan I've looked at and it's fantastic. He's going to make some real fundamental changes and hopefully the United States will lead that cause in the next green revolution and set an example," said DiCaprio.
DiCaprio's Roger Ferris is the angry and often frantic man on the ground in the war on terror in Iraq and Jordan. Back in the U.S., Crowe's arrogant CIA veteran Ed Hoffman hovers over laptops and tracks ground movements half a world away via spy satellites. Hoffman, who would sacrifice his mother to single-handedly win the war on terror, easily earns Ferris' enmity, but Ferris needs his eyes and strategies.
In trying to flush a ruthless terrorist (Alon Aboutboul) out of hiding, the uneasy duo encounters a silky and charismatic head of Jordanian intelligence (British actor Mark Strong), an often bewildered local guide (Oscar Isaac), a computer whiz (Simon McBurney), a hapless pawn (Ali Suliman) and a nurse (Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani).
