- Title: USA: "Shrek: Forever After" -- the fourth and final installment - has its world premiere in New York
- Date: 23rd April 2010
- Summary: NEW YORK, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES (APRIL 21, 2010) (REUTERS) (SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) CAMERON DIAZ, VOICE OF PRINCESS FIONA, SAYING: "Yes, it is very hard. It is something that I have not really, I hadn't comprehended at the depth that I do at this very moment when I am talking about it with everyone. It is the end. For Shrek, for Far Far Away and all the characters and for Shrek and Fiona. It's been a wonderful ride and lovely to be apart of it. I feel honored to be apart of it." ANTONIO BANDERAS AND WIFE MELANIE GRIFFITH TALKING TO REPORTERS (SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) ANTONIO BANDERAS, VOICE OF PUSS IN BOOTS, SAYING: "It means that it gives the whole entire movie -- and not only our movie, the animation industry -- a new push in a new dimension. We made it to Cannes, twice actually, the competition was surprising for many people to see the whole entire intellectuality of Europe sitting down after seeing three movies from Iran and another one from Czechoslovakia, watching Shrek. It was a relief at the same time. Shrek brought the possibility about laughing at ourselves, laughing at pop culture and an anti-pop culture. Even though after all these years Shrek became pop culture itself." TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL FOUNDER ROBERT DE NIRO WALKING THE RED CARPET MEDIA PACK AT THE PREMIERE EDDIE MURPHY TALKING TO REPORTERS (SOUNDBITE) (ENGLISH) EDDIE MURPHY , VOICE OF DONKEY, SAYING: "There is not as much improvising as you think. We probably do one or two takes where we improvise, but for the most part, they are really specific about how you do things and say stuff, and what you say. There is a little bit of improvising but it is mostly being directed."

- Story Text: Tribeca Film Festival opened in New York on Wednesday (April 21) with the surprising choice of "Shrek: Forever After", the fourth and final installment of the hit franchise.
The film's stars including Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas walked an apt green carpet alongside the festival's founder, Robert De Niro and a host of other celebrities.
It was a high-profile opening for Tribeca, which is a mix of independent and commercial films, and paid tribute to one of the most successful serials in recent time.
And Shrek's creators opted to end the popular animation with "Shrek: Forever After" -- in 3-D.
"Fawlty Towers did it great," Mike Myers, the voice of the character Shrek, told Reuters.
"They wrote a set number of them and then they walked away. I think this is a very elegant move... I am very excited."
For Cameron Diaz, who plays Shrek's long-time love interest Princess Fiona, it was an emotional night.
"It is very hard," Diaz said. "It is something that I have not comprehended at the depth that I do at this very moment when I am talking about it with everyone."
"It is the end. For Shrek, for Far Far Away and all the characters and for Shrek and Fiona. It's been a wonderful ride and lovely to be apart of it. I feel honored to be apart of it," she finished.
Tribeca Film Festival, in its ninth year, runs for 12-days and spans more than 130 films. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
