- Story Text: Renee Zellweger and George Clooney, with girlfriend Sarah Larson in tow, premiere "Leatherheads" the period comedy about the birth of pro-football in Los Angeles, California.
Director George Clooney joined his co-stars Renee Zellweger, and John Krasinski for the premiere of "Leatherheads" in Los Angeles, California on Monday (March 31).
The film is a romantic comedy set in the world of 1920s football, where the owner of a professional team drafts a strait-laced college sensation, only to watch his new coach fall for his fiancée.
Renee Zellweger has branded her co-star George Clooney a spoil sport because he would never let her fool around on set.
"Well he was right because I look like an idiot those little shoes with the buckles and the hat my goodness. He said 'no what am I going to do with you when you put that down? What am I going to do with you when I have a close to shoot and you nose is over here."
The pair star together in 'Leatherheads' but Zellweger was reprimanded by the director on set for playing with the replica pigskin balls.
"I would because she smack the nose and then get a swollen nose and then what do we do? How do you do the love scenes?" Clooney told Reuters.
With his earlier outings as a director, Clooney had taken supporting parts, but with this one he was determined to play the lead role of Dodge Connelly, a brash and charming jock who is determined to bring respectability to a primitive sport which back in the 1920s tended to degenerate into brawling free-for-alls.
"Because I wanted to do something besides the normal you know I wanted do something besides a issues director you know what I mean?"
'Office' star John Krasinski who co-stars as Carter Rutherford in the film said the hardest part on working Clooney was the fight scenes.
"You know he may a point of saying lets really mix it up you know throw me to the ground and stuff. That is really hard to deal with. you can't be like 'yeah sure I will throw you to the ground George Clooney. I was like 'sorry man" I like apologized to him really bad but it was really fun."
