- Story Text: On the heels of the hit movie "Bridesmaids" some of that film's cast members are joining forces again to see if they will have the same success with a new romantic comedy, "Friends With Kids."
Almost the entire cast from the film, with the excpetion of Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig, hit the red carpet to promote the movie.
Jon Hamm, who worked with Kristen Wiig on "Bridesmaids", said their chemistry is what helps them create movie magic.
"We've gotten a chance to do a lot of things together and we just have fun together. So we were thrilled when she said she wanted to be a part of the movie and I think we gave her a chance to some stuff that she really hasn't done before and I think she's going to surprise a lot of people in this film," Hamm told Reuters.
The ensemble comedy is about a close group of friends who start to realize the negative effect having children has on their romantic relationships. The last two single people in their crew decide to have a baby without strings attached in order to avoid the pitfalls of being married with children.
On the red carpet, most of the actors said they didn't think the premise works in real-life. However, actress Jennifer Westfeldt, who plays one of the single friends, is very close to a real-life 'art intimating life' situation.
"My managers, who are best friends, a man and a woman, and they're business partners, they sat me down a few months after the movie wrapped and said, 'we're having a baby together,' and I was like, I hope it's not just because of my script. And they had their baby last week," said Westfeldt.
Edward Burns hit the red carpet with his wife Christy Turlington. The couple said the evening was a mix of work and play. In the movie, Burns' character is consider the rational adult of the film, which Turlington says isn't a stretch for her husband of almost ten years. When asked to describe Burns as a father, Turlington didn't hold back.
"They're having fun with him all the time, but they also, it's like, they look up to him. So when you can sort of sit across the room and see that interaction between your kids and your husband, it's pretty sweet," said Turlington.
Burns joking responded by saying: "I'm going to start tearing up here."
British actor and "Bridesmaids" alum Chris O'Dowd had his own way of relating to the subject of the film.
"I am at that stage where all of my friends are getting married now and having kids. Three of my best friends have had kids in the last year and I just don't know where they live now, they are dead to me, so it's difficult," joked O'Dowd.
Actress Megan Fox, who makes one of her first appearances in a romantic comedy, said the uniqueness of the script is what attracted her to the role.
"I never had considered doing a romantic comedy before, but I think it's so original and different and so honest, it's not cliché in the way a lot of romantic comedies usually are. So I'm really proud of it, I am happy about it," Fox said.
But one thing the 25-year-old isn't happy about is getting dressed up for red carpet appearances.
"It's just so much pressure when you're suppose to look good, everybody wants you to look good and there's always that chance you're going to look terrible. So whatever, you just do it, but I don't like it," Fox said dressed in a short Elie Saab dress.
