- Story Text: It was the last premiere of the 'Twilight' films: Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner walked the black carpet in Berlin on Friday (November 16) night for the last time.
Hundreds of fans waited up to 20 hours in freezing temperatures to see 'their stars' up close. And Pattinson, Stewart and Lautner did not disappoint. Jetlagged and delayed by thick fog over London and Berlin, the actors braved the low temperatures and spend as long as they could signing autographs, posing for photos and answering questions of the media.
"I want to know where they get their coats from," laughed Pattinson. "I know it's crazy. It's enough of them they can keep warm like penguins."
But with all the finality, it did not seem to hit home yet, as Kristen Stewart said. "I don't think it's really hitting us right now. This feels very ... I don't know... I know this is literally the last 'Twilight' premiere we'll ever attend. I feel like only when we are getting into the car and really actually realize. Now it's just like freezing cold and loud."
And as it goes with every woman on the red carpet - vampire or not - all eyes were on her dress. The sequin gold Ellie Saab gown, complete with a thigh-high slit, was new side to the lacy frocks she is known for.
"I like both. I don't know," she said, referring to the bright yellow Dior mini she wore for the Los Angeles premiere. "This s a really big night, LA was a really big night. I feel lucky that I found two different things that I was really comfortable in, that I really liked."
But more than finales and dresses and flashlights it was the fans that were on the stars mind.
And Lautner added that he doesn't mind spending what seems like hours on the carpet. "What's special about it? The most special thing is the fans. I mean that's what makes it fun. Don't get me wrong, talking to you guys is great, too. But the fans, I mean their energy is unreal."
The tumultuous love triangle between human girl Bella Swan, vampire Edward Cullen and werewolf Jacob Black that has gripped avid fans known as "Twi-hards" for seven years, comes to a tantalizing end as "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" hits movie theatres around the world.
This time, the spotlight is on Bella, turning from a helpless human to a woman with super powers. Kristen Stewart, who became a household name with her portrayal of Bella, was not daunted by the change in her role in the film.
The "Twilight" film franchise, based on a series of novels by Stephenie Meyer, rocketed the three main stars, Stewart (Bella), Robert Pattinson (Edward) and Taylor Lautner (Jacob), into the spotlight and the first four films have grossed more than $2.5 billion at the worldwide box office.
The movie pays homage to the angst-ridden teenage romance between Bella and Edward that was underscored by the off-screen real-life romance between 22-year-old Stewart and 26-year-old Pattinson.
"Breaking Dawn-Part 2" shifts the action from a love story to a family story, as the Cullen clan recruits their extended vampire family to protect Bella and Edward's daughter Renesmee from an ancient vampire coven.
While the past four films have stayed true to the books, author Meyer and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg came up with a twist in the plot that adds a major scene that may surprise movie-goers.
"The Twilight Saga", first published in 2005, kicked off a wave of vampire or supernatural-theme books, films and TV shows and Richelle Mead's "Vampire Academy" series of young adult novels.
