- Story Text: Father/son acting duo Will and Jaden Smith attended the Japan premiere of their movie ''After Earth'' in Tokyo on Wednesday (May 1).
Proud parent, Will Smith boasted about his son's discipline on-set for the film, despite breaking off mid-sentence to jokingly accuse 14-year-old Jaden of stealing a pen.
"It's one thing when you have to push kids, and push 'em and motivate them and gotta get 'em to do the things you want them to do, but he's very disciplined and hard working and I just love the (noticing Jaden) - you stole somebody's pen. (Jaden Smith:"No I got this one.") No, you stole that from somebody, you went over there and stole a pen.'' Smith told Reuters.
Adding: ''No, but I do appreciate other than his proclivity for stealing people's pens, I really appreciate his discipline as an actor."
Although shooting in Cosa Rica was strenuous, speaking alongside his dad, young Jaden said the experience was 'fun'. Will double checked this by asking if he enjoyed shooting the movie: "I had a good time," Jaden confirmed to his dad.
Jokingly Will then added that perhaps the red carpet was a bit late for asking the question, "I guess I should have asked you that before today," he said.
Jaden agreed: "Ya you should have asked me that before today."
As well as having fun with reporters, the father and son Hollywood superstars continued to entertain fans and media with an impromptu beatbox freestyle session on-stage, Will beatboxed while Jaden freestyled for a few minutes.
Afterwards the pair were treated to a Japanese cultural experience, they were presented with giant carp kites, a symbol for Japanese national holiday 'Children's Day', which takes place annually on May 5th.
The carp were made and decorated by local Tokyo junior high school students, Will and Jaden filled in the eyes of the carp to complete the pieces.
