- Story Text: Actor/writer/director Seth Rogen arrived on the red carpet Monday night (June 03) in Los Angeles, where he joined his "buddies" for the premiere of his new film, the apocalyptic comedy, "This is the End."
Directed by Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the film follows six friends, who happen to be hollywood stars, including the likes of James Franco, Emma Watson and Jonah Hill - who also happen to be playing themselves - trapped in a house after a series of strange and catastrophic events devastate Los Angeles. As the world unravels outside, dwindling supplies and cabin fever threaten to tear apart the friendships inside. Eventually, they are forced to leave the house, facing their fate and the true meaning of friendship and redemption.
Rogen, who also stars in the film, told Reuters he held nothing back in trying to embarrass his friends.
"We were often concerned about that, but we did it anyway," joked Rogen. "We kind of hoped that people get their feelings hurt because that probably means that we have moved into a juicy area. But, everyone felt very comfortable with each other and it is the same type of jokes you make with your friends. You bust each others balls, that's all it is, 'ball busting.'"
Emma Watson, of "Harry Potter" fame, who somehow found herself in the film, enjoyed the opportunity to play with the "boys."
"No, I kind of knew Jonah Hill and sat with James Franco, a little bit before," said Watson. "I think that really helped and they were very aware that there was a lady on set and were very sweet and took care of me, kind of like big brothers."
The fact is that most of the cast in "This is the End" like each other and it shows.
"It was like hanging out with the friends, those guys are funny," said Craig Robinson. "So, we all make each other laugh. It was really more of a collaboration and they know what they are doing and they let the camera go and we just mine every scene for gold."
The film also stars Paul Rudd, Danny McBride and Michael Cera.
