  • Story Text: Japanese singer actor Fukuyama Masaharu greeted fans in Taiwan at the red carpet premiere of his latest detective film "Midsummer Formula" on Thursday (July 04).
    After box office successes in Japan and Hong Kong at the end of June, Fukuyama said he had been looking forward to promote this movie in Taiwan.
    "I come to Taiwan to present this movie to the audience in Taiwan. I have been wanting to come to Taiwan for a long time. Finally, finally, finally, I am here. I can meet the fans personally from a close range, this is very meaningful to me. I hope through this film, Taiwanese fans and I will become closer. Thank you for coming today, and I hope to see you again in the near future," he said.
    "Midsummer Formula" was adapted from "Manatsu no Houteishiki", a mystery novel written by one of Japan's best-selling authors Higashino Keigo's, which is part of the Detective Galileo series.
    In the movie, Fukuyama plays a physicist, Yukawa Manabu, who goes to a small coastal township for an underwater mining project but uses his talent to help police solve a man's mysterious death.
    Fukuyama launched a yellow water rocket, an important symbol in the movie at the movie's premiere in Taipei.
    The rocket was also presented to a little girl from the audience as a gift.
    Fukuyama is set to stay in Taiwan for three days and is expected to present an award at the 24th Golden Melody Awards.
