- Story Text: Nicolas Cage and Vanessa Hudgens turned out for the world premiere of their new movie The Frozen Ground on Wednesday (July 17).
Wearing a gold-sequinned Jenny Packham jumpsuit, former Disney star Hudgens was promoting her leading role as a prostitute attacked by a serial killer in Alaska.
Cage plays the only cop who takes her account seriously and together the pair go on a hunt for murderer Robert Hansen.
The Frozen Ground is based on the true story of Alaskan detective Glenn Flothe (called Sgt Jack Halcombe in the film).
Cage explained how he met and talked with Flothe in order to prepare for the role.
"I was just taken by his tenacity. I said to Glenn, you're a hero to me, a real one, you sacrificed your life, you sacrificed your privacy, you sacrificed so much and I said 'I am going to make you look good. I am going to take you and fit you into the format of cinema but I am going to make you look good because you're important to me'," he said.
Former High School Musical star Hudgens, 24, performs a pole dance in a strip bar in her underwear during one scene.
"It's nerve-wracking, all you have got to do is just go for it," she said. "It's not supposed to be glamorous or professional. My character takes a hit of something really strong right before she does it so it's meant to be clumsy and raw and it feels that way."
Speaking about his co-star, Cage, 49, said: "This is a new Vanessa Hudgens that people haven't seen before and I think it's going to be great for her."
