- Story Text: Harvey Keitel and Timothy Hutton play two brothers who plan the perfect crime that goes perfectly wrong in the new film noir thriller "City Of Industry." The pair joined their co-stars for the film's East Coast premiere last week (March 10).
Hutton plays Lee Egan, a small-time Los Angeles criminal who is determined to get out of the city and start a new life.
He masterminds an elaborate jewellery robbery in Palm Springs as his one last heist and asks his elder brother Roy, played by Keitel, to help him.
Lee recruits Jorge Montana, played by Wade Dominguez, and the fiery, violent and unpredictable Skip Kovich, played by Stephen Dorff, to be a part of the robbery.
After the heist goes off perfectly, an argument over the money ends up with death of two of the gang members. When his brother is murdered, Roy moves into the fray to take revenge on the man who betrayed him and avenge his brother's death.
Also in the cast is Famke Janssen, whose most recent credit is playing the lethal assassin Xenia Onatopp in the hit James Bond film "Goldeneye." In "City of Industry," she plays Rachel Montana, the strong-willed wife of Jorge, who must deal with his life of crime and brutal death while raising her children.
Director John Irvin, whose previous credits include "A Month By The Lake," "The Dogs of War," and "Raw Deal," describes "City of Industry" as a post-modern classic film noir.
He says he wanted to "peel back the layers" of Los Angeles that people have seen in other films and show the industrial underbelly of the city.
Keitel is the Oscar-nominated veteran actor whose long association with director Martin Scorsese has made him a household name.
Their film collaborations include "Mean Streets," "Taxi Driver," and "The Last Temptation of Christ." His other films include "Bugsy," "Thelma and Louise," and Quentin Tarantino's "Pulp Fiction." - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
