- Story Text: X-Men fans packed the Jacob Javits Center in New York for the super-sized premiere of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" on Saturday (May 10).
The Manhattan convention center housed hundreds of die-hards as the film's stars rewarded them with autographs and selfies.
"I mean, they are everything. I wouldn't have a job if it weren't for my fans. And also, I've really got like, not to brag, but I've got like the best fans in the entire world," said actress Jennifer Lawrence who returns as Mystique.
"I love it, it's great. I don't think you can be a part of too many franchises," actor Sir Patrick Stewart said, who comes back as Professor Xavier.
The movie sees Wolverine, played by Hugh Jackman, who is ageless thanks to his innate healing factor, go back from a harsh future to the past to try and change the timeline for a better future.
Directed by Bryan Singer, who directed the first two movies in the original trilogy, it brings backs characters from the previous franchise like Storm (Halle Berry), Shadowcat (Ellen Page), Iceman (Shawn Ashmore), and not forgetting Magneto (Sir Ian McKellen). They feature alongside the characters from "First Class" including the young Magneto (Michael Fassbender), the Beast (Nicholas Hoult) and the young Professor Xavier (James McAvoy).
For McAvoy, acting alongside Stewart was easy and didn't require any preparation.
"It was, quite 'in there out there' kind of thing. And it was kind of cool because you can get a little too intellectual about these things sometimes. It's just nice to go in and go, 'should we do some acting, yeah, come on then.' And that was cool to do that with Sir Patrick Stewart, Knight of the Realm," McAvoy told Reuters.
A new quartet of characters are also making an appearance - Blink (Fan Bingbing), Warpath (Booboo Stewart), Sunspot (Adan Canto), and Bishop (Omar Sy).
Newcomer Josh Helman said he had to explain the popularity of the series and his new job to his family.
"I've told my mom that, you know, I'm playing a really interesting fellow, I think he's quite a smart fellow. I think he keeps his cards very close to his chest. And I think there's a lot of story to be told about him. We're seeing him right at the beginning so it will be interesting to see how it develops."
