- Story Text: Jennifer Aniston was in fine spirits Wednesday night (August 27) in Los Angeles as she "joked" her way along the red carpet at the premiere of her new film, the dark comedy, "Life of Crime."
Based on Elmore Leonard's novel "The Switch," the film features a strong cast that includes Aniston, Tim Robbins, John Hawkes, Isla Fisher and Will Forte. In the film, Aniston plays the wife of a corrupt real estate developer (TIM ROBBINS) and is kidnapped by two common criminals (YASIIN BEY and JOHN HAWKES), who intend to extort him with inside information about his crooked business and off-shore accounts. But the husband decides he'd actually rather not pay the ransom to get back his wife, setting off an unbelievable sequence of double crosses and plot twists.
"Well it is, yeah I had a ball!" said Aniston when asked how she got involved with the film. "The situation was where the director called and asked if I would do it, I read the script, I met him, I loved him, I loved Elmore Leonard, I loved the all the movies that had been adapted from his books. It is hard to say no. Then to be brought on as an executive producer, to have fun with collecting the crew and gathering all these wonderful people. It was just a really creative experience."
Aniston added that this is really an ensemble film.
"It was everybody, it really was," said Aniston. "It was a group of really excited actors who had a really similar process in terms of discovering your character and rehearsed and we had some extraordinary rehearsal and some great dinners. We met each other and spend time with each other."
Daniel Schechter directed "Life of Crime."
It opens in movie theaters on August 29.
