- Story Text: Mr. Joseph Sisco, the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State, arrived at the Knesset in Jerusalem on Friday (30 July) for talks with Israeli leaders, in a renewed American effort to break the deadlock at present preventing the reopening of the Suez Canal. Mr. Sisco's visit to Israel, the second in three months, has been arranged with the Israeli Government proviso that the talks will encompass the question of the sale of U.S. arms....an issue which it considers of paramount importance.
Before holding official talks with Prime Minister, Mrs. Golda Meir, and Mr. Abba Eban the Foreign Minister, at the Knesset, Mr. Sisco held a short preliminary meeting at the Israeli Foreign Office where he met other Israeli and American officials.
