- Story Text: U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Robert Zoellick
visits Indonesia as part of his six-day Southeast Asian tour.
United States' Deputy Secretary of State Robert
Zoellick met on Saturday (May 7, 2005) with Indonesia's
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Zoellick was expected to discuss the issue of tsunami
aid with Indonesian leaders in Jakarta, as well as Aceh
province, where the Dec. 26 earthquake and deadly waves
killed left more than 160,000 people dead or missing.
The deputy secretary is scheduled to visit Aceh's
provincial capital Banda Aceh on Sunday (May 8) to assess
the US contributions to the post-tsunami reconstruction
efforts there.
Zoellick had earlier visited Vietnam, the Philippines
and Thailand.
