- Story Text: Britain's Foreign Secretary, Sir Alec Douglas-Home, flew into the Moroccan capital Rabat on Wednesday (September 15) to begin three days of talks with Moroccan leaders.
It was the first visit by a British Foreign Secretary since Morocco became independent in 1956.
Officials said the main topic of Sir Alec's talks with Moroccan Foreign Secretary Abdellatif Filali was the Arab-Israel conflict, in the light of Sir Alec's contacts in Cairo earlier this week.
Sir Alec conferred also on Thursday with Moroccan Prime Minister Mohamed Karim Lamrani before flying to Fez for an audience with King Hassan the Second.
