- Story Text: El Salvador held the “Bitcoin Historico 2025” event in the capital on Wednesday (November 12), where business leaders and government officials discussed progress in the country’s adoption of cryptocurrencies.
Mexican businessman Ricardo Salinas Pliego expressed interest in establishing a Bitcoin-focused financial institution in El Salvador once the country has a clear regulatory framework. "I’m very interested," he said during the event, adding that he regretted selling the bank he once owned in El Salvador during a period of severe economic difficulties.
El Salvador’s ambassador to the United States, Milena Mayorga, said two private Bitcoin bank initiatives are under development, one of which is "a few weeks away from opening" after meetings in Washington. She said both projects are taking advantage of recently implemented laws and regulations, helping "the Bitcoin agenda continue advancing in the country."
