- Story Text:Several pro-Palestinian protesters climbed Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate on Thursday (November 13) where they unfurled a banner demanding “freedom for Palestine” and “never again genocide.”
With the help of a crane similar to the one used in the Louvre heist in Paris recently, three protesters draped in Palestinian flags set off flares and shouted pro-Palestinian slogans from atop Berlin’s landmark.
The protest, which began around noon (1100 GMT) and lasted just over an hour was watched by passers-by and crowds of tourists who frequent the area.
Berlin police said in a statement on social media platform X that around 75 officers had been deployed.
"Three people climbed up illegally using a lifting platform. Three people who illegally drove the lifting platform” to Brandenburg Gate and operated it "have already been arrested.”
Police added that preparations were underway by their height rescue teams “to bring the remaining three people down from the Brandenburg Gate."
