- Story Text: Climate activists staged a protest at the COP30 venue on Wednesday (November 19), calling on wealthy nations and fossil fuel companies to fund a global transition away from oil and gas and fill a loss and damage fund agreed at last year’s talks.
The protesters threw fake banknotes and rallied around an inflatable oil barrel to demand that “polluters pay.”
COP30 delegates are debating whether the summit will mark a historic step toward phasing out fossil fuels or fall short amid resistance from industry lobbyists and disputes over climate finance.
