- Story Text: Retirees and social organizations marched from Argentina’s Congress to Plaza de Mayo on Wednesday (November 19) to protest against labor reforms and what they called an “imperialist pact” between President Javier Milei, U.S. President Donald Trump and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The demonstration, led by left-wing parties, unions and grassroots groups, demanded the repeal of proposed changes to labor, tax and pension laws.
During the protest, security forces deployed barriers and federal police under the government’s anti-blockade protocol to prevent road closures, echoing measures taken during previous demonstrations. The rally ended with speeches in Plaza de Mayo urging a general strike to stop the government’s reform package, which critics say threatens workers’ rights and deepens foreign influence over Argentina’s economy.
