Bombs exploded at 15 offices of the ruling Radical Party across the country early on June 24, hours after courts lifted human rights violation charges against 48 military officers. No injuries were reported, but the bombs caused heavy damage at some offices. No one immediately claimed responsibility, but in the western city of Mendoza pamphlets were found at the scene of the bombing, bearing the name of a previously unknown group calling itself 'The Argentine Front for National Liberation'. The pamphlets criticised the recent law halting precaution of officers of the former military government for human rights abuses. Among the officers named in the lifting of charges include navy Lieutenant Alfredo Astiz for the kidnapping of two French nuns and army Major Ernesto Barreiro, who sparked April's abortive army revolt by officers demanding amnesty for colleagues accused of human rights violations.
