- Story Text: A 35-strong group of Belgian police officers in civilian clothes left Brussels by air for Katanga Aug 18 - the first group to reinforce the Belgian-officered police administration in the breakaway Province of the Congo Republic.
Other Belgian police officers in executive positions will fly out to Katanga next week to help Prime Minister Tshombe run the Province.
Reports indicated the men would act an in advisory capacity to the former force Publique - the Katanga Army now in the process of forming a nucleus of reliable African officers.
The arrival of the Belgian police in Katanga came in a day of reports of hastily-erected road barricades to help stem any invasion attempt threatened by the Central Government of Mr. Lumumba.
