- Story Text: Snowstorms closed schools, shops and offices in Jerusalem and throughout Israel on Tuesday (February 25) during the worst winter in the region since 1904.
Two boys of nine and 14 were feared drowned in a flooded river near their homes in Jisr al-Zarka village, north of Tel Aviv. They went out to watch the storm and did not return.
Hundreds of drivers were stranded along snowy roads for up to 10 hours overnight, especially on the Jerusalem-Tel Aviv highway.
Many commuters checked into Jerusalem hotels for the night.
Israel's meteorological centre said rain and snow were more than three times the annual average.
