- Story Text: A makeshift gas canister bomb has damaged the political office of Greek Deputy Labour Minister Christos Protopapas in central Athens but there were no injuries, police said.
They said the bomb was placed at the entrance of Protopapas' office inside a six-storey building. The blast smashed windows and caused a fire which was quickly extinguished by firemen on Wednesday (April 1).
Another gas canister bomb went off outside the former offices of Labour Minister Miltiadis Papaioanou in the same building, causing minor damage, police said.
Television showed smoke coming out from the windows of the building and police said the office was open at the time of the blast with a number of Protopapas' associates working in it.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Athens has been subject to a series of small bomb attacks in recent months with hits against U.S.car dealerships, two MacDonald's fast food restaurants and a Turkish diplomat's car.
